We are looking for dedicated, motivated people that want to serve the community in a vitally important way as volunteer first responders. We provide all the tools, training, guidance, and equipment you need to become part of an organization based on tradition and rooted in service.

Woodbridge Fire Company #1 Training

Gain professional experience, skills, and certifications

Volunteers will complete the Firefighter 1 Course, which introduces new firefighters members to the basics of national and state-recognized firefighting techniques through classroom instruction and skill-oriented "hands-on" sessions and obtain the required certifications.

College Tuition Reimbursement

The Woodbridge Fire Department supports and encourages continuing education. Many department volunteers have degrees or are currently working toward a degree.

Under the Volunteer Tuition Credit Program, the department will reimburse up to $600 for courses taken at Middlesex County College. Members can also earn up to $5,250 for college, technical, and vocational education, along with scholarships available for eligible family members.

Meet requirements and earn up to $1700/yr (adjusted for inflation) in a 401(k) type savings account. Members are vested after 5 years of service.

Any injuries resulting from your work with the Department are fully covered.
You are covered by up to $21,500 in life insurance, a portion of which you may keep even if you leave the Department, provided at no cost to members.
The firehouse is equipped with a gym for members to use, a lounge area with tv/video/video game console and wi-fi.
Members get a discounted rate at the Community Center, and some local/county businesses offer discounts on merchandise and services.
