Why You Should Support Your Volunteer Firefighters
The VOLUNTEER firefighters of Woodbridge Fire Company No. 1 have been protecting the lives and property of the residents and businesses of Fire District No. 1 since 1897.
Our firefighters give thousands of hours of their time every year, at the risk of their own safety, to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones. We not only respond to fires, but any emergency situation including vehicle accidents, utility problems, carbon monoxide, hazardous materials/ conditions, and rescue incidents. We respond around the clock, every day, to an average of 750 emergency calls per year.
The fire service is constantly changing, and so are the dangers we face. We train for all types of emergencies and seek out new tools, techniques, and equipment to make our jobs safe and more efficient – while keeping your property and family safe.
Volunteers commit to responding to a minimum of 20% of alarms and attending 60% of department drills.
